Electronic Frontier Foundation. The Electronic Frontier Foundation is the leading nonprofit organization defending civil liberties in the digital world. Formed in 1990 to maintain and enhance intellectual freedom, privacy, and other values of civil liberties and democracy in networked communications.
Center for Digital Democracy. A non-profit consumer and privacy protection organization dedicated to holding commercial data companies, digital marketers , and media companies accountable. It is focused on research, public education, and advocacy protecting in the digital age.
Center for Democracy & Technology (CDT). A non-profit organization whose mission is to strengthen individual rights and freedoms by defining, promoting, and influencing technology policy and the architecture of the Internet.
Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC). Established in 1994 to focus public attention on emerging privacy and civil liberties issues and to protect privacy, freedom of expression, and democratic values in the information age. EPIC pursues a wide range of program activities including policy research, public education, conferences, litigation, publications, and advocacy.
Institute for Local Self-Reliance. A non-profit organization and advocacy group that provides technical assistance to communities about local solutions for sustainable community development in areas such as banking, broadband, energy, and waste through local purchasing.
MuniNetworks.org. Part of Institute for Local Self-Reliance, they provide resources for those joining the movement to build broadband networks that are directly accountable to the communities they serve. Case studies, fact sheets, and video are some of the media we offer to help leaders make decisions about community owned networks.
Next Century Cities. A non-profit that supports cities that have or seek to have fast, affordable, reliable broadband.
Fiber Broadband Association. Trade association in the Americas dedicated to fiber optics. The Fiber Broadband Association provides advocacy, education and resources to companies, organizations and communities who want to deploy the best networks through fiber to the home, fiber to the business and fiber everywhere.
